I remember when I told my mom that I wanted to learn how to sew (only 6 years ago). She said explained to me that she never taught me how to sew because she wanted me to become a big time corporate person. She had bigger dreams for me. She did not want me to be a homemaker like she was. (she was more than a homemaker in my mind.)
I went off to college and graduated from USF. I headed out into the corporate world and I did succeed. I married a fine gentleman in USCG and enjoyed life. After changing jobs, buying a home and putting my feet firmly on the ground in one place, I realized the corporate life is fine but my hands & mind were restless.
The hubby and I had gone camping in a small town in FLA. This tiny little shop was selling aprons and my heart, hands and mind came together as one. Pamwares was born. After many sewing lessons and countless sewing machines. I was ready to open my little etsy shop.
Pamwares is my creative outlet. All of my designs are cut from poster board templates I made. I carefully select the fabric combinations and start cutting. My favorite fabric is IKEA. I buy yards and yards of it. The bold colorful prints make my heart skip a beat. Once an apron is cut, I iron and pin the pieces and start sewing. Each apron takes at least an hour to make from start to finish. I'm not the speediest sewer in the world because I pay close attention to the stitch, the placement and the end result.
I have been lucky enough to have been featured in several magazines and newspapers. The best feeling is being found by a stylist who wants to feature your wares in a national publication. Your heart explodes.
I'm still in the corporate world working for the Home Shopping Network in the Merchandise Dept. I sew at night and on the weekends. I have 3 lovable dogs, 2 crazy cats and 8 hens. I live in a small town in South St Pete. My life keeps busy with cooking, camping, kayaking and photography.
And I'm still married to the fine gentleman who is now retired from the USCG. He is my biggest cheerleader. And my mom is amazed at my sewing and the my little shop. She is very proud as well as my dad.
I lead a salt life in FLA without getting sunburned. www.musingsFLA.com
